TikTok shows a cat abruptly leaving the room after realizing its owner is there too

Goldie the cat just wanted to take a nap in peace – preferably without an audience. A hilarious video has gone viral on TikTok showing a long-haired orange cat named Goldie who is about to settle into her owner’s bed before she realizes she’s not the only one in the bed.

In a video posted by Emily Bott (@freedomfarmhouse), Goldie walks over the comforter of the owner’s bed to settle down for a nap next to the bed’s pillows. Unfortunately, her actions were monitored and recorded. Before going down to rest, Goldie notices her owner and the camera before deciding to take off quickly, once again looking for a quiet place to sleep.

On June 11, Bott posted TikTok Goldie, which has since garnered 198.5k likes and 1.7 million views, with another 3 million views on Instagram. It’s a popular cat!

The caption reads “The moment my semi-feral cat realizes I’m in bed with her,” referring to Goldie’s origins as one of 16 barn cats the Bott family discovered when they moved to the property in 2018.

We can only assume that Goldie is still not very comfortable around people due to her beginnings as a wild catbut hopefully with lots of patience and attention Goldie and her friends will feel more comfortable napping around people.

Freedom Farmhouse Sanctuary is also home to many other animals, such as Vincent Van Goat the goat, Bugs the bunny and Tex the dog. The sanctuary is now in the process of trying to get 501c3 nonprofit status so they can take on more rescues and welcome human visitors to a proper visitor center.

If you ever come across a group wild cats as Botto’s family did, the best you can do is try to get them all spayed or neuteredespecially if you have cats of your own. Depending on how many cats you find and which vet you visit for the procedure, the venture it can be expensivebut unexpected kittens are an even bigger undertaking. Additionally, many organizations, even your local animal shelter, offer reduced cost or free spay and neuter.

While feral cats may have had a rough start in life, there are still many ways you can help them, beyond opening your own animal sanctuary.
